Tips for Entering!

Tips for Entering!

This is a friendly reminder that the submission deadline is just around the corner! We've noticed some of you might still be figuring out the best way to enter your amazing shots, and we want to make sure no one misses out due to a little technicality.

We're excited to see all your incredible images and want to help you navigate the entry process smoothly. So, here's a quick rundown of the key things to keep in mind when you're submitting your work:

Language Matters!
Please make sure your entries are in either Hungarian or English only. Any submissions in other languages will have to be removed after the deadline. Just a heads-up – we won't be able to send individual notifications about language issues!

RAW vs. JPG – The Nitty-Gritty!
If your stunning photo makes it to the second round in any of the Traditional Categories (Bird Portrait, Birds in Flight, Bird Behaviour, Birds in their Environment, Details, MadArt, Birdo Extra) or the Youth Category, we'll need you to upload the original, uncompressed RAW file through the designated section on our website.

If you only have a JPG version of a photo that reaches the second round in these categories, unfortunately, we won't be able to include it in the competition.

Shooting in JPG? No worries! You can still shine in our Open Category!

Category Clarity is Key!
Take a little time to read the descriptions for each category. The jury will be checking if your photo fits the theme. If a picture isn't in the right category, it will be considered a technical error during judging.

Just so you know, neither the jury members nor we will be moving photos to different categories, and we won't be sending out reminders about this during the submission period.

No Nests or Drones pic, please!
It's clearly stated in the contest rules that we cannot accept photos of nests or drone photography in Birdo. Any such entries will be removed during the submission phase, and we'll even drop you a line to explain and give you a chance to upload a different image. While we're happy to help you get it right, please remember that sending these extra notifications isn't something we're strictly required to do according to the rules. We really want to see your amazing, rule-abiding photos! However, based on past experience, the last couple of days of submissions can get super hectic, and we might not have time to get back to everyone for corrections.

Similar Shots – Choose Wisely!
If you've captured several fantastic photos of the same bird around the same time and location, it's best to pick your absolute favourite to submit. If you enter multiple very similar images, even in different categories, please be aware that only one can be considered for any awards.

Got a question before you submit? Don't hesitate to reach out!  info (at) bird-o.hu  We're here to help!

Good luck with your submissions – we can't wait to see your incredible work!
