  The photo was taken on a cloudy, drizzling morning, with me lying down close to the lake bed to observe a red-necked avocet wading in the water. I captured the moment the bird splashed water, using a session that lasted about an hour. I chose this subject for its elegant form and the dynamic action of its movement in the misty conditions.
