I had the opportunity to visit relatives in Ottawa. I brought my camera gear with me and drove to a location that is often home to overwintering owls. I have envisioned this image for years and when the sky started to turn an incredible orange as well as the unexpected development of ice fog, I knew I had an incredible opportunity before me. I belly crawled to the edge of the field and captured this image.

I have been a bird photographer for 12 years . I became "hooked" on birds during a trip to Tanzania. I saw a lilac breasted roller and I fell in love. Upon my return to Canada, I googled bird photography and fell into the wonderful world of my feathered friends.
