While exploring the wetlands around Missolonghi, I found a pool with a few Avocets on. They were feeding in the distance, but as I sat in my car they slowly moved a little closer. All of a sudden a bird of prey flew over and all the Avocets flew up. I managed to make this image as the closest bird to me took off across the calm pool. As it was a dull day, converting the image to black and white worked well, especially as those are the colours of this elegant birds plumage.

I live in the UK, but I am an avid explorer and get out in my campervan along roads less travelled, aiming to photograph the wildlife I encounter amidst some of Nature's most environmentally significant and diverse places. From photographing Puffins on a remote, snowy island hundreds of miles above the arctic circle, to photographing Dalmatian Pelicans in one of Europe's premier wetlands, I aim to capture unique and captivating images that inform and inspire.
