  I spend many hours during the winter at this ice free pond, The common mergansers enjoy the open water and the flatfish found in that area.
  When a merganser catches a fish, several other mergansers will chase the lucky fisher and try to steal the fish.
  This female lifted off the water to protect her catch.
  I arrived at the pond in late afternoon and stayed for about an hour. I used a drape over blind. I love photographing waterfowl and I love photographing the action.

  I have been a bird photographer for 12 years . I became "hooked" on birds during a trip to Tanzania. I saw a lilac breasted roller and I fell in love. Upon my return to Canada, I googled bird photography and fell into the wonderful world of my feathered friends.
