  Screech owls and European rollers are very different birds, but since their burrow and food requirements are very similar, they often compete with one another. The owl would not be particularly bothered by the proximity of its more colorful co-tenant, but the male roller can't handle his hormones and makes a sport out of annoying others during his short stay. Taken from a hide, flying at full speed he tries to surprise the birds that stray into the area from behind, no matter how big they are. The photo was taken from a hide I built myself.
