I built a hide on the edge of a drying puddle in a small river valley. My main goal was to photograph a common snipe, which I successfully managed to do. I also had luck capturing images of other shorebirds and rails. On the fifth day, something completely unexpected happened—a kingfisher landed right in front of me on the ground. It seemed to be scouting for a good fishing spot. After moving around the mud several times, it flew away and perched on a reed higher up.
