  It is very difficult to photograph Corn crakes - you need to watch where and in what direction the grass sways and wait for when, perhaps, a bird will run across the path. That year there were a lot of birds and two males were calling to each other from different pieces overgrown with dandelions. The more combative male sometimes ran out to the edge of his piece, but immediately ran back.
