Too close for comfort

  • Where was the image taken?
    Hornoya, Norway
  • Story of the image

As I sat in the snow, watching a group of Razorbills on the arctic island of Hornoya, a Shag made an awkward landing, and ended up just a little too close to the Razorbills. One partucular Razorbill decided to make its feelings of displeasure known, and the Shag shrank back, seemingly shocked by this outburst of vocal aggression. The moment was fleeting, but it was extremely entertaining to see this behaviour, and I had a smile on my face for the rest of the day!

I live in the UK, but I am an avid explorer and get out in my campervan along roads less travelled, aiming to photograph the wildlife I encounter amidst some of Nature's most environmentally significant and diverse places. From photographing Puffins on a remote, snowy island hundreds of miles above the arctic circle, to photographing Dalmatian Pelicans in one of Europe's premier wetlands, I aim to capture unique and captivating images that inform and inspire.
