While photographing Puffins on the island of Hornoya, I was able to get close to this bird as it preened. With the contrast between the light under feathers and the darker feathers both above and below, I was able to make a strong image which shows the details that normally aren't seen on these beautiful and enigmatic birds. I spent the day on the island, just walking around, and sitting and enjoying the atmosphere, noise, chaos and beauty of this arctic paradise.

I live in the UK, but I am an avid explorer and get out in my campervan along roads less travelled, aiming to photograph the wildlife I encounter amidst some of Nature's most environmentally significant and diverse places. From photographing Puffins on a remote, snowy island hundreds of miles above the arctic circle, to photographing Dalmatian Pelicans in one of Europe's premier wetlands, I aim to capture unique and captivating images that inform and inspire.
