For many years, a 120-year-old granary has been standing abandoned in the Borsodi Mezőség, which (among other things) provides a nesting place for protected barn owls. Specialists placed litter boxes in it 20 years ago, which were damaged and needed to be replaced. By examining the owl pellets in the crate, we also obtain information about the animals they prey on in the area (e.g. hamsters and other protected rodents). It is particularly interesting that when the voles were mating last year, two nesting barn owls, and a total of 14 chicks, flew out of here!
