By the end of the year 2019, I worked as an ornithologist fieldworker for a friend who did a phd about the bird of Kanwona island and Gabo island in AUstralia (Victoria). During one of my stalks, a young Fan-necked Cuckoo (Cacomantis flabelliformis) came to rest on a branch and I photographed it. When I sorted out my photos, I had trouble seeing the cuckoo clearly inscribed in the shape of the branch behind it, a fine example of camouflage.
