  I didn’t see him coming. One moment, I was focused on the lagoon, and the next, this brown pelican was almost right on top of me. He was so close that I could feel the rush of air as he stretched out his feet in midair, locking eyes with me, avoiding collition. I don’t know who of us was more surprised. In that second, everything froze, and I snapped the shot just as we both tried to process what had just happened.
